Falsely registered case onscreen
The stars of ‘Meinu Ek Ladki Chahiye’ made their presence at Spice mall of Noida on 10th September 2014. Actors Zakir Hussain (of Singham Returns fame) with Raghubir Yadav and actress of the novie, Rashee Bindal along with the director- Abhishek Bindal and producer-Manoj Bindal interacted with the media on this occasion.
Rashee Bindal, the lead actress is debuting with this movie. In real life, while she is director Abhishek’s daughter; on screen, she is playing the role of Raghubir’s daughter. Talking about her role, she says, “This is my first project and I am lucky that I got an opportunity to work with the experienced actors. My role is of a homely girl which is quite similar to my personality.”

Discussing the storyline, Abhishek says, “The movie is based on a fake rape case where Govind (Raghubir) calls every random girl with a concealed identity saying, ‘meinu ek ladki chahiye aur aji unka pta (address) bhi chahiye’. As a result, Raghubir is sometimes hit also or beaten in public.” He further says, “The first-half of the movie is quite comic and lightens up the mood with its romantic tracks.”
On being asked as to what inspired him to make this movie, he says, “I ended up making this after studying several cases and reading crime stories every day. The movie is trying to focus on all such fake registered cases, not necessarily a rape case. So, this is a serious issue which the movie is trying to deal with. It poses a question on the society and its practices.”

In this context, Abhishek gave a wonderful example of a case relating the movie plot to the present scenario. He says, “Suppose, there is a case where several media sources and non-governmental organisation extends their support but at the end, they realise that it was nothing but a fake rape case. So inner way, it will be a wastage of everybody’s time and effort. Moreover, it can also be called as playing with someone’s emotions.” Taking it to the next level, he talks about the plight of the victim on whom a fake case is registered, which also brings a bad name to the family and the crowd stares him without knowing the truth. So, in this movie, we are trying to convey that actions should be taken only after investigating both the sides.”
Abhishek Bindal further added, “People living abroad casually remarks that India mein toh aesa hi hota hai or UP, Delhi or Bihar waale aese hi hote hain. So, people have started categorising. So, here, we have raised a voice that there should be some rule or law for both the accused and the victim. And, not just put the accused behind the bars by only believing a woman’s statement. This can be otherwise called misusing one’s power.
‘Meinu Ek Ladki Chahiye’ ia a comical satirical movie starring Raghubir Yadav, Puru Chibber, Reecha Sinha, Zakir Hussain, Yatin Karyekar & Rashee Bindal. The film touches various issues taking place in the country but in an entertaining manner.
