Exercise does not harm your memory
Exercise does causes the formation of the new neurons in a critical brain region which further does not erases old any memories, cited by a study conducted by an Indian-origin researchers.
Exercise causes the neurogenesis in the hippocampus – key brain region for the learning, memory and also mood regulation.
It was surprising that when a previous study conducted on mice, had revealed that the presence of far more neurogenesis in the brain seemed to have erased memories that were further formed before and on removal of extra neurons which enabled mice to remember the old memories.
The team had then decided to replicate this research using the rats instead of the mice. As rats are considered to be more like humans in terms of physiologically, with more-similar neuronal workings.

The research on rats has showed that these animal models also reflected no degradation in memories.
The researchers had trained the rats to further complete a task over four days, which was followed by several days of the memory consolidation by performing a task over and over again.
Then, half these trained animal models were then put into cages with running wheels for around several weeks, while the control group remained sedentary.
The rats who had ran further over the course of that time proved to have a much greater neurogenesis in their hippocampus and on the other side all rats, who were accessed to a wheel had greater neurogenesis than the sedentary group.
