ELOPED COUPLE CAUGHT!
The debutant pair of Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, Deeksha Seth and Armaan Jain a.k.a Karishma and Dino, came all the way to the national capital to promote their movie. At one point, where we already know a lot about their movie, there is a little we know about them as individuals. So, A.Kameshwari from One World News caught this eloped couple (in the movie) in a brief conversation to know more about them:
Deeksha, you wanted to be an under-water archeologist, so how come your track changed to being an actress?
I think its bit of luck, a bit of passion and it was definitely not something that I ever planned to, because as a child I used to feel that the Indian film industry is really far away. For me, it was a fantasy land and for everyone it is an unreachable destination. So, being in it was as good as being in some world Disney movies. I was lucky enough to be in Hyderabad, where someone had a look at me and found me apt for a role in a Telugu movie and luckily I caught hold of my first acting opportunity. But it was only after doing my first movie that I realized; I would love to do more of it. Once you have done all the basic scenes of dancing with 200 dancers, getting drenched under the rain, a death scene with a white dress as an actress and yet you get all motivated for doing more work that is the passion, which I felt right after my first movie.
Adding to the answer, Armaan says, “She aspired to be an under-water archeologist and I am an under-water diver because I dived into the water so deep and got out gold which is this movie, the character and of course Arif sir (followed by hoot). So, yes I am a marine diver”.
Armaan did you always wanted to be an actor?
Actually no, when I was young I never thought about it. I come from a business oriented family; my father is an investment banker so, the surrounding was quite normal. Like any kid I would go to school come back, play sports, eat and live the basic routine life. Acting wasn’t something that was put into my mind. But yes, I always liked entertaining people, I do that like all the time and I realized that you can entertain the people either through movies or by theatre. When I grew little older like 15-16 and people were deciding on what they want to do, I wanted to tell my parents what I want to do but I was nervous because my family norm was to complete one’s undergrad, masters and all that. I went to pursue my education in economics and business in London and then I came back to my parents and expressed what my dreams are. After knowing my wish, they were really supportive and that was a life changing moment for me.
When it comes to my cousins, I am inspired by all of them and especially the niche` they have created for themselves in the industry but to be frank what inspires me more is the character. Moulding oneself according to the lifestyle, body postures and many other aspects of the character. My aim is to enjoy my work, love it and leave everything else to destiny.
What have you learnt while acting in this movie, Armaan?
A person changes and learns something or the other every day. So, I cannot point out something but then I guess while acting in this movie I have realized that I have grown up. Though, I’ll never ‘grow-up’ and always be a child (giggles) but, I don’t know it’s hard to say anything like that because there is so much to tell.
Any actor you look up to?
Armaan: As I said, I don’t go with the actor but the character being played by him or her. However, I look up to my father, though he is not in the same field but I wish I could inculcate the discipline and the work ethics he has. Personally, I think, I can’t even be half of what he is.
Deeksha: I always felt that we never know how the actor’s real life is so, for me too, the characters played by them are inspirational. For instance, Queen, I was stunned! I watched it thrice. I feel, if you could give a feeling of wow and amazement to the audience then I think that’s what is inspiring for me. So, my goal is to play such roles which inspire the audience and makes my performance stand out.
So were you scared when you got to know that you would be acting next to someone who has such a big family background?
(Armaan interrupting) Instead, I was the one who was scared because she has done six movies and I have done none. I had a lot of pressure (giggling).
(Deeksha continuing) Well, I was not scared, because I think it’s not his family who is going to work or be around. It’s him who would do all of that. And apart from all this, he is a very lively, young and friendly person. He is born and brought up in Mumbai and I too was there for my studies so, the language gets in the ease between us. I never looked at him as someone who comes from a big family background but someone who wants to debut in the movie, that’s how we got along and I was never pressured.
Arif Ali, why you thought of casting new-comers in the movie? Was it the demand of the script?
I wanted fresh faces as I wanted to portray innocence. When you watch someone for the first time you believe in their characters and whatever they do. So, all that they have done in the movie becomes believable because they are fresh, people also forgive and like them for that matter of fact.
What is the USP of the movie and what message does it carry?
The USP of the movie is stupidity, learning from stupidity to commit another one.
The movie carries a lot of messages. In this new age India, youngsters rebelling and eloping is quite common. You would find every second house dealing with a case of elopement. Why is it? It’s all because of the generation gap. The parents have their own mind-set and the youngsters are scared to express what they want. So, the message is for both the generations to bridge the gap and understand each other.
