A Wild Elephant that got separated from its herd from a nearby hill in Meghalaya, halted traffic and created a lot of curious onlookers who were admiring at its antics from a distance on the outskirts of Guwahati.
There were no reports of injuries to the elephant as it wandered around the streets. It finally ventured back to the forest by itself.
Guwahati City is an example of anurban city that is in transition with a growing population that is moving closer to the forested areas.
This is not the first time where there have been conflicts with animal and human habitation.
