Addressing the press conference, the director of the movie, Ravindra Gautam said, “The movie is about a father-son relationship which depicts how the attitude and its understanding has changed with the passage of time. It also exposes today’s reality where children hardly respect their parents and even take them as a burden.”

Talking about the title, Ravindra said, “There are many people who die without earning respect. There is a common perception that ‘Salaami’ will be given only to the wealthy lot. So, in this movie, we have tried to depict the relationship between an honest father and a son of today’s generation. In the end, the manner in which he pays due respect to his father is something every child should do.”

Anupam Kher on his part said, “If I am asked to rate this movie, I will list it in the ten best out of the 487 movies, I have done till date.” Divyendu Sharma of Pyar Ka Panchnama fame said, “It is a very emotional and personal film based on everyday life.”

On being asked about the special reason for playing the role of an honest man in most of his movies, including this, Anupam Kher said, “I am motivated by my grand-father who was a very honest man. He was a civil engineer by profession and never accepted a bribe. He even left his job when he was offered a bribe once. I always remember his line: ‘I did not accept the bribe because presently, I do not need it, but then I fear that I would have if I needed it.’ So, through my movies, I simply wish to convey that ‘There is no alternative to honesty and hard work.”
