Cut-off in negative for DU admissions
Believe it or not, the DU MSc Chemistry entrance cut off has gone down to -2 this year for the ST category, while the General cut off stands at 120.5.
The whole idea behind the reservation system was to uplift the backward classes and give them equal opportunities in line with the forward class. But, going by the current scenario, I highly doubt that the people who introduced this system were looking to achieve this.
Some might argue, saying they didn’t have the luxury to study in good private schools as the General Class. True, but they have already been raised to the same platform as the General Class during their graduation studies. We had the same professors teaching us, the same library to consult from and the same laboratory to perform the practical in. Then why this reverse discrimination again?
No one is against reservation but there should be a minimum benchmark for every category that they need to clear, otherwise it isn’t doing anyone any good. Also, the idea of reservation beyond graduation seems flawed.
These anomalies in our education system need to be addressed soon or the dream to see India compete with International powers will forever remain a dream.
Fun Fact 1 :- Snack around for 3 hours during the exam and you have got yourself a better chance of clearing the exam then actually attempting the paper.
Fun Fact 2 :- The reservation system was originally supposed to last for 10 years, meaning get over in the 1960s.
