Cricket could make a comeback in commonwealth games
Cricket fans might see their favorite game again in world’s second largest sports event after Olympic that are commonwealth games.
Commonwealth games federation is talking to international cricket council about bringing the cricket back into the 4-yearly event.
Organizers said that, they want to introduce cricket in CWG again with very short format T20. In commonwealth games, the cricket was
played once in 1998 at Kuala Lumpur.
In 1998, 16 teams competed with each other in 50 overs match. In gold medal match, South Africa had beaten Australia.
CWG federation chiefs said that, “It’s on the priorities of the movement: all 71 nations and territories unanimously agreed that it would be great to have cricket as a part of the sports program.”
