Colour of Joy by Neelam Mansharamani
Today, the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre saw a colourful evening when ‘Colour of Joy’ was inaugurated by a visual artist Neelam Mansharamani. This solo exhibition of beautiful paintings has been dedicated to Neelam’s specially-abled child Chirag. The inauguration ceremony was also honoured by K L Ganju (Hony Consul General, Consulate of Union of Comoros), Tibor Kovacs (Director, Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre) and Ms. Subha Rajan (Head External Affairs, Confederation of Indian Industry).
Colours of Joy is Neelam’s expression about her life which has always been a struggle. However she never gave up and fought with everything, which came along. She says that, colours motivate her and helps her in facing the hurdles and taking responsibility in life. “I have dedicated this collection of my painting to my son. Chirag, my son, who is specially-abled child and has always inspired me in different ways. I am proud of him. Similarly, I feel the colours have made me walk with broad shoulders and have taken me to places. It has broadened my horizon and has made me meet different types of people. I usually paint portraits, landscapes and figures.”
Neelam Mansharamani also works for Airport Authority and provides counseling to parents of specially-abled children and also teach the children. She has done a Child Brain Development course from the states and is also trying to make these children come in contact with colours and the joy of painting.
There is this innocence in her paintings and a simplicity which strikes you right away when you come across it. She believes that specially-abled children are blessed and are a beautiful part of the world who need to be taken care and loved. “Stop treating them like they are different. They are special and much more intelligent than the other kids. They inspire you, make you smile and make you live.”
Her favourite portrait is the one where she has drawn how she has brought up Chirag with the help of her parents. The exhibition is on till 2nd of the April at Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre.
