What extra could you possibly expect from a sequel movie about an exotic bird, when you would have already taken a crash course from its original? But, be ready for surprises. Rio-2 is power packed with a fresh take on its storyline, (the angle could be old but the treatment is above average), its animation, the voice overs and definitely the wise-cracks that come with it. The scenic beauty of Amazon has been captured very well in the drawings and the direction has done complete justice to the world’s best location, when it comes to capturing forests. The level of 3-D is not something that could be boasted about, yet the screenplay is strong enough to come out with sighs at certain scenes, not to forget a special mention to the Tree-frog, dubbed by Rita Moreno, who has done a tremendous job thanks to her musical talents. Talking of, which reminds me to put a special mention to the amazing foot tapping beats and simple, yet enjoyable lyrics of the songs in the movie. All-in-all, a complete family entertainment, which will leave you excited, satiated, and happy to be human!
Rio-2, which brings Hollywood and Bollywood together and this time for full-fledged movie, has more colorful adventures with new music and dance sequence, and introduces new non-bird characters who will add more depth to the story and imagery. Mr Sunder Kimatrai, Executive Vice President Asia Pacific, 20th Century Fox, gave a tantalizing glimpse into the exciting movie and warmly invited the duo, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan, featuring as the main voices for the dubbed Hindi version of this movie, on stage to talk more about RIO 2. The sequel to 2011’s hit animation flick, RIO, RIO-2 is ready to release on Arpil 11th 2014. The movie will feature the return of Blu, Jewel and their three kids who leave their domesticated life for a journey to Amazon rainforest.
Rio 2, is one of the most anticipated Hollywood movies in India and is an adventure comedy, set in the Brazilian city of Rio De Janeiro.
Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan will feature as the lovable and memorable macaws Jewel and Blu respectively. In the English version of the movie, Jewel will be voiced by Anne Hathaway and Blu will be voiced Jesse Eisenberg.
Though it is not the first time that Bollywood has lent their voices for Hollywood movie, but its first time ever such a huge Bollywood association has taken place for a Hollywood franchise.
Imran Khan who was very excited for this dubbing experience compares dubbing for the Hollywood flick to Bollywood films.
“RIO was an absolutely fun and fantastic watch when it released couple of years ago. The macaw Blu is a complete delight onscreen and when I was approached to voice Blu in RIO 2 I readily agreed to be a part of the film! Though I have always admired animations from a viewer’s point of view, this time with RIO 2 I learnt about many fascinating elements that combine to make the final stellar film! There are so many nuances that synergize beautifully and it’s a completely different world when we compare to other movies! I had so much fun while dubbing as I had the complete freedom of giving various reactions and expressions through my voice, which is quite different from Bollywood, where we merely re-enact our dialogues shot previously. I also got a chance to sing a few lines of Blu in the movie for a party sequence that was an awesome moment too.”
Imran’s voice has reached Hollywood, now, let see when he would appear on-screen under Hollywood franchise.
