Many of us are familiar with the name Bhowani Junction as a movie of yester years but people in Delhi new the other one being the multi cuisine restaurant in the Connaught Hotels promoted by Prominent Hotels Ltd.
Now this hotel is facing a recovery order for a due of Rs.122 Crores. In a pettiton filed by the NDMC that was being heard for 18 years the Delhi High court has allowed the NDMC to begin the evicting procedures against the hotel and recover the pending dues of the said amount.
In addition the court also held the owners of the hotel responsible for entangling the NDMC on frivolous litigation since 1995 when the Municipal authorities terminated its license deed with Promonent Hotels Ltd. by levying a fine of Rs.5 lacs.
The land was originally allotted for the construction of a youth hostel for the Asian Games in 1982 but the owners built this hotel and put it in operation in the year 1987.
The hotel management has so far managed to drag the case until now and the Honourable court took offence to this tactics by the owners in misleading the court.
