Till recently, India’s defence production sector was the exclusive preserve of the Government of India. However, since it’s liberalization, a slew of manufacturers have joined the defence manufacturing bandwagon.
Currently the number exceeds 60, and has some very respectable names like Reliance, Tata, Ashok Leyland Punj Lloyd, Dassault, Lockheed and others.
To better serve their interests, and to bring synergies, these companies have formed the Association of Defence Companies here in India. This association is expected to play a nodal role in the interaction of these defence manufacturers with the Government of India.
