Archeological Survay of India showcases millenia old hairstyles

The World Heritage Week is on from today. To celebrate it, the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has come out with a novel method to attract attention.

They have set up a exhibit of hairstyles worn by women all those centuries back, as depicted in sculptures.

Titled “Kesavinyas”, meaning ‘hair arrangement’ in sanskrit, the exhibit opened today in Delhi’s Red Fort.

The more elaborate the hairstyle, the more powerful the lady sporting it. Showing this are not only sculptures, but also pictures of sculptures.

Hopefully, this exhibition will rekindle interest, and start new trends in hairstyles for ladies, inspired by those from India’s golden age, when the western world lived nomadic lives.
