AIDS, global funding has drop by 90% in the last three years. India has third largest population of people living with HIV. This drop in funding poses challenges to the various health workers involved in implementing awareness programmes.

This is causing great concern, as we can once again witness a upsurge in cases of AIDS due to reduction in awareness.

Health workers are bearing the brunt of the layoffs due to lack of co-ordination between National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and the States in devolution of funds and plan budgetary support. Even though Rs. 274 crore has been released in 2015-16, only eight states have used the funds.
