Two of the world’s biggest brewers are in talks for a takeover/merger. The larger of the two, Anheuser (AB InBev) has approached it’s ‘smaller’ rival SABMiller to take it over.
This would create a behemoth brewing giant, controlling over a third of Global beer market. The combined value of the merged entity would be a mindboggling $ 270 Billion.
According to Anheuser this deal makes eminent sense, as they play a dominant role in Latin America, while SABMiller is the main player in Africa. Both are sort of equal footed in the Asian markets.
This merger would help them synergise their resources, thereby strengthening and bolstering their bottom line.
