There are many things around us which have multiple uses but we don’t know about them. For instance, baking soda, apart from being used in cooking, can be used in cleaning brassware.
Similarly, there are many other household uses of banana that we don’t know about. Here is a list of some of them:
1) Shining the shoes-
Banana peel can work wonders on leather. One just has to rub the inside of banana peel on any leather items — shoes,jackets, leather-bound books etc. After rubbing it thoroughly on the surface, wipe the residue with a lint-free cloth, by buffing it for a glossy shine.
2) Cleaning the houseplants-
Wipe the leaves of your houseplants with the inside of the banana peel, it removes dust and soot and leaves the leaves soft and shiny.
3) Polishing the furniture-
To get that waxed up look on your varnished furniture, just smear the overripe banana on the furniture and wipe the residue off the furniture.
4) To soothe bug/mosquito bite or skin irritations-
If you’ve got stung by mosquitoes, bees or wasps or have rashes or skin irritation, rubbing the bite with the inside of a banana skin would soothe it immediately.
5) Erase ink stains/marks from skin-
In order to erase the ink stains/smudges from the skin you just have to rub the inside of a banana peel on the ink smudge.
6) Scratches on CDs and DVDs-
Your favourite music CD isn’t working? Don’t panic. Just smear some ripe banana on the area of the scratch, in a circular motion. After that, wipe the CD/DVD with a lint free cloth.
7) Get rid of house/fruit flies-
Irritated with the fruit flies hovering over your fruit basket? Just put a banana peel in one of the re-sealable plastic bags with the top half folded like a sock. Keep it in the vicinity of the fruit basket.
After an hour or two you will see, all the fruit flies have gathered on the peel. Seal the top of the bag and throw it in a bin, outside. For houseflies, use a bigger re-sealable plastic for houseflies.
8) Shine your teeth!-
Remove nicotine and other stains from the teeth to get a pearly white smile, by rubbing banana peel on the teeth after brushing; every night. You will see surprising results after 1-2 weeks.
9) Dislodge splinters-
Put a band-aid or tape with a piece of banana peel and put it on the splinter. The enzymes from the banana skin will help to dislodge splinter from the skin.
10) Night rub for glowing skin-Rub the inside of banana peel on your face and leave it overnight, wash it in the morning for a fresh and glowing skin.
