World Book Fair to happen at Pragati Maidan: This weekend drop all your plans & visit
Every year in the month of January Delhi hosts the World Book Fair. It takes place every year at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. The good news is the World Book Fair is back! This iconic fair had started in the year 1972 and inaugurated by V.V Giri who was the President at that time. The fair is organized by the National Book Trust, a publishing house founded in the year 1957. It functions under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The fair has been a collective effort of the NBT and India Trade Promotion Organisation since 2013. ITPO is under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and helps in the promotion of external trade.
This year the book fair is all set to begin from 4th January to 12th January. Timings for the book fair- 11 AM to 8 PM.
Considered as the biggest book fairs in Asia, this 28th Edition of the book fair will be based on the theme- Gandhi: The Writers’ Writer. This theme has been decided to celebrate the 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi.

The highlights of the Book Fair would be-
· The Children’s Pavilion
A major attraction for kids with various books, workshops, storytelling sessions, etc.
· Author’s Corner
This has always been a huge crowd puller, as the visitors get to interact with authors, have literary discussions, etc.
· Cultural Programmes
Various performances of songs, the drama also find their way to the book fair, which is seen as a celebration of our cultural heritage.
