The Odisha administration has further extended the suspension of internet services on Thursday by another 48 hours to bring back normalcy in the violence-hit western Odisha city.

The Odisha government further extended the suspension of internet services on Thursday in Sambalpur district by another 48 hours even as normalcy was fast returning in the violence-hit western Odisha city.
The state Home Department issued a fresh order and said internet services will remain suspended till 10 am on April 22. However, the leased lines and broadband will be functional in the western Odisha district including Sambalpur city from Thursday (10 am to 5 pm).
The administration also suspended internet service following a violent clash between two communities in Sambalpur city across the district during a bike rally on April 12 and Hanuman Jayanti celebration on April 14.
Action has been taken in the district in order to stop the spread of rumours. The internet service is suspended to prevent such issues as many people including 10 cops were injured in the two back-to-back clashes in the city.

During the clash, one tribal youth was allegedly killed. However, according to the police, it was reported that the murder of the tribal youth was not linked to any violence.
Meanwhile, multiple reports of makeshift shops being burnt down were also verified by the police in the city.
In this regard, Ananya Das, Sambalpur District Collector, and SP B Gangadhar will hold separate meetings seeking the assistance of elderly persons from different colonies and to resolve the issue in order to bring back complete normalcy in Sambalpur city.
Following the clashes, the administration also imposed a curfew in Sambalpur from midnight of April 14 and it is in force till now. However, the day curfew has been lifted in some parts of the city.
ODISHA BJP URGES GOVERNOR TO ASK GOVT TO EXHIBIT ‘RAJ DHARMA’
A delegation led by President Manmohan Samal of Odisha BJP has urged Governor Ganeshi Lal to instruct the state government to exhibit ‘Raj Dharma’ in letter and spirit following the recent communal violence that occurred in Sambalpur.
The BJP delegation in this regard met the Governor and submitted a memorandum to him over the communal violence that erupted in Sambalpur a few days back during the Hanuman Jayanti procession.
Sambalpur is known as the epicenter for the celebration of religious functions of all religions and the town is very rich in culture. In Sambalpur, the Hanuman Jayanti celebration is one of the largest religious functions, having a congregation of lakhs of devotees including women and children, the BJP said in its memorandum.
On April 12, a motorcycle rally was organised across the route during the Hanuman Jayanti procession. While the procession was passing through, suddenly there was pelting of stones and petrol bombs followed by physical attacks on participants by some anti-social elements belonging to a particular minority community which resulted in serious injury to dozens who were taking out the processions which also included some police officials, the BJP alleged.
There were some visuals also that went viral on social media that were recorded by different persons present during the show, “disturbing scenarios including shouting of anti-national slogans by the anti-socials and anti-national elements”, it said.
