PUBG, the most popular game in India
Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds is one of the most popular smartphone mobile games across the world including India. In India, the game has over 175 million downloads.
The app is developed by a South Korean based video game company, known as Bluehole. However, Chinese company Tencent holds a considerable amount of share in the PUBG app.
The game has been subject to heavy criticism on numerous occasions in the past but for a different reason. After receiving several complaints from guardians and parents, some state governments of the country put a temporary ban on the game for its addictive nature that had a psychological impact on players, especially the younger ones. PUBG had, then, assured to take inputs from educators, guardians and government organizations to create a safe ecosystem for players.
Pakistan had banned the gaming app earlier this month on the grounds of addictive nature of the game which is important to the player’s health. Later, the ban was lifted by Pakistan court.
