There is a famous saying that everyone and everything has its prime time. The saying applies to the gaming world where new games are availed every day.  Games come and go. There is a rage for a particular game at a particular time. Do you remember Candy Crush? People used to send requests on Facebook, a lot of people were seen playing it in the metro. But the craze got over soon. Well, there is one game that has not lost its charm. People play it with all their hearts! Yes, we are talking about PUBG. But just like Tiktok, it will also become a mere memory after a few days.

The game is incredibly popular in India and is also the most played mobile game in India. But gamer’s heart broke when the news surfaced that the government might ban PUBG soon in India. Various reports on online media claimed that suggesting 275 apps are apparently being scanned by the government of India for potential user privacy violations and national security threats and PUBG is one of them.

The PUBG users were happy a month ago when the massively the popular game was not included in the list of 59 apps which were banned citing national security and a threat to sovereignty and integrity in India. But on Monday, PUBG, a staple in Indian households was reported to go under the scanner amid the geopolitical tensions between India and China.

While the gamers were worried about the ban, the memers were trying their best to lighten the moment with their usual wittiness. Here are some of the memes that are dominating Twitter.

Earlier, the Indian government had banned 59 Chinese apps including popular ones like TikTok, ShareIt, Cam Scanner, UC Browser and more. The government later banned 47 more clone Chinese apps which were earlier banned including the likes of TikTok Lite, Shareit Lite, Helo Lite, Bigo Lite and VFY Lite. After the ban, all of these apps are reportedly not available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

PUBG, the most popular game in India

Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds is one of the most popular smartphone mobile games across the world including India. In India, the game has over 175 million downloads.

The app is developed by a South Korean based video game company, known as Bluehole. However, Chinese company Tencent holds a considerable amount of share in the PUBG app.

The game has been subject to heavy criticism on numerous occasions in the past but for a different reason. After receiving several complaints from guardians and parents, some state governments of the country put a temporary ban on the game for its addictive nature that had a psychological impact on players, especially the younger ones. PUBG had, then, assured to take inputs from educators, guardians and government organizations to create a safe ecosystem for players.

Pakistan had banned the gaming app earlier this month on the grounds of addictive nature of the game which is important to the player’s health. Later, the ban was lifted by Pakistan court.
