ISRO successfully launches EOS-01, 10 latest satellites launched by ISR0
Take a look at last 10 stunning satellites launched of ISRO
ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), India’s space agency successfully launched its latest earth observation satellite (EOS-01) on Saturday. Along with the EOS-01, 9 other satellites from customer nations were also on board the PSLV-C49 launch vehicle from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh. While we celebrate the first satellite launch of ISRO since the pandemic struck, let’s look at last 10 major satellites launched by our space agency.
1. G-SAT 30
India’s “high power” communication satellite GSAT-30 was successfully launched onboard Ariane 5 rocket from French GuianaGSAT-30 to provide high- quality television, broadcasting and telecommunications services on Jan 17, 2020.
2. RISAT-2BR1
RISAT-2BR1 is a synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) imaging satellite for reconnaissance, which was launched on 11 December 2019 aboard PSLV-C48. It is the fourth satellite in the series and a part of India’s RISAT series, which was launched on 11th December 2019.

3. CARTOSAT 3
Cartosat-3 satellite is a third-generation advanced satellite which has high-resolution imaging capability. It addresses the increased user’s demands for large scale urban planning, infrastructure development, rural resource, coastal land use, land cover and more. It was launched on November 27, 2019, on a PSLV-C47 rocket from Sriharikota. Cartosat-3 was injected at an inclination of 97.5 degree to the equator into an orbit of 509 km.
4. RISAT-2B
RISAR-2B is a radar imaging earth observation satellite which was launched aboard PSLV-C46. The 615 kg weighted satellite provides services in the field of disaster management, agriculture and forestry.
5. EMISAT
EMISAT was placed in its intended sun-synchronous polar orbit of 748 km height on April 1, 2019, aboard PSLV-45. It is built around ISRO’s Mini Satellite -2 bus weighing about 436 kg and provides a measurement of electromagnetic spectrum.
6. GSAT-31
GSAT-31, a telecommunication satellite was launched from Kourou launch base, French Guiana on 6th February 2019. The satellite is configured on ISRO’s enhanced I-2K Bus and augments the Ku-band transponder capacity in Geostationary Orbit. It weighs around 2536 kg and provides continuity to operational services on some of the in-orbit satellites on Indian mainland and island coverage. The in-orbit operational life of GSAT-31 is around 15 years.
7. Microsat-R
Microsat-R is an imaging satellite which was launched on 24th January 2019 aboard PSLV-C44. The unique thing about this satellite’s launch is that it was the first time when ISRO used the last stage of the rocket as a platform to perform experiments in space.
8. GSAT-7A
GSAT-7A is India’s 35th Communication satellite built by Indian Space Research Organization. It is configured on ISRO’s standard I-2000Kg (I-2K) Bus. It was sent into space to provide communication capability to the users in Ku-band in the Indian region. It was launched on 19th December 2018.
9. GSAT-11
GSAT-11, India’s next-generation high throughout communication satellite, was launched on 5th December 2018 from Kourou launch base, French Guiana by Ariane-5 VA-246. It weighs around 5854 kg and is the heaviest satellite of ISRO so far. GSAT, an advanced communication satellite sports multi-spot beam antenna coverage over the Indian mainland and Islands. It plays an important role in providing broadband services in the country along with a platform to demonstrate new generation apps. The satellite was launched into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit and ISRO’s Master Control Facility situated in Hassan.
10. HysIS
HysIS is the primary satellite of PSLV-C43 mission, which was launched on 29th November 2018. It weighs around 380 kg and is an observation satellite configured around ISRO’s Mini Satellite-2 (IMS-2) bus. It studies the earth’s surface in the visible, shortwave infrared and near-infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. This satellite was launched on November 29, 2018.
