After the government extended the coronavirus lockdown till 31st May and said that some relaxations will be given regarding the movement. Confusion was created as hundreds of vehicles gathered at the DND and Kalindi Kunj border of the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. People were confused if they were allowed to travel or not. There was also confusion regarding the travel and e-pass. In this article, we will answer all your queries regarding the travel pass or e-pass and clear your confusion.
What is a Travel Pass and e-pass?
The travel pass or e-pass is a bonafide government-issued document that allows the citizens to travel from one place to another. This pass is granted by either the local authority or the government to allow movement of a few exceptional cases across and inside state.
Anyone who is stuck in another city on anyone who has a medical emergency or a family emergency can be issued an e-pass. All the states have different guidelines to identify and grant the e-pass for emergencies.

How to apply for a travel pass?
You can apply for e-Pass from the central government’s ServicePlus website. 17 states are using the website to issue e-pass to individuals and groups. On the website you will need to select your current state, you will be redirected to the state’s individual travel pass application website where you will have fill the details and submit documents. You will be given a reference no/application no to check the status. Either your application will be rejected or approved.
If your application gets rejected, there is another way to apply for interstate and inter-district travel. You need to reach your respective District Magistrate of the district you are residing currently. Accepting or rejecting your request depends upon the authorities.
What are the required documents?
Valid personal documents like Aadhar Card/Pan Card/Passport/Driving license are needed for the identification of the traveller. Vehicle details in which you will be travelling is also important along with the information about the number of travellers. It is important to download the Aarogya Setu app to register for the travel pass.

E-pass is valid for inter-state and inter-district travel. You don’t need pass to travel within the city. In containment zones, you will not be allowed to travel unless there is a medical emergency. Movement of people is allowed between 7 AM to 7 PM only. Night travel is allowed for essential services and medical emergencies only.
