It is a very popular belief in north India that Mahatma Gandhi was responsible for the partition of India into two countries. We want to say that Bapu actually opposed the partition of India as it was against his vision of unity among Indians of all religions. He believed that Hindu, Muslims and Sikhs of Punjab, all had a common culture and was against dividing the country on the basis of religion. 3. “An eye for an eye would leave the whole world blind” is a quote by Mahatma Gandhi.

If you would read about Gandhi, you would know that he had a lot of fancy one-liners, the kind which could have challenged Twitter-greats, had he been alive today. “An eye for an eye would leave the whole world blind” is always associated with Mahatma Gandhi. But, these words were actually said by Ben Kingsley, the Hollywood actor in the movie Gandhi. There is no record that can prove Gandhi’s association with the dialogue.

4. Mahatma Gandhi was photographed dancing at a party.

An image is very viral in which a person who looks like Mahatma Gandhi is seen dancing with a model. Few people on social media alleged that Mahatma Gandhi was a lustful person. However, it is not Mahatma Gandhi, which is dancing with the lady. In fact, it is an Australian actor dressed like Gandhi.

5. Gandhi encouraged Rape Jihad

With the inception of social media, lies about Mahatma Gandhi has increased. In one post, it was said that just before when the Sikh and Hindu women were being raped by Muslims in large numbers, Gandhi advised women not to refuse rape. It was also said in the article linked to the post that if women cooperate with rapists, Muslims will be satisfied soon and leave her. A book was cited for this claim, but in reality, nothing was written in the book ‘Freedom at Midnight’ by D Lapierre and L Collins. On the whole, the twitter post wanted to say that Gandhi’s ideologies encouraged Rape Jihad and his preaching should not be followed.
