FIITJEE Coaching Centers Shut Down Across North India Amid Financial Crisis

FIITJEE coaching centers close abruptly after teachers quit over unpaid salaries, disrupting students’ preparations

FIITJEE centers shut across North India as teachers quit over unpaid salaries, leaving students stranded

Several FIITJEE coaching centers across North India have abruptly shut down, leaving hundreds of students and parents in distress just before crucial board and entrance examinations. The closures, which have affected centers in Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhopal, Varanasi, Delhi, Meerut, and Patna, were caused by teachers resigning en masse due to unpaid salaries, officials said.

Parents and students were caught off guard as no prior notice or refunds were issued. Many parents have since filed police complaints and staged protests outside the now-closed centers. Videos and photos have surfaced showing parents demanding explanations and a resolution from the institute’s management.

“I invested Rs 6 lakh, trusting the institute’s promises. They assured us classes would continue even when teachers started leaving,” said a parent from Meerut. Another parent revealed he recently paid Rs 4 lakh in fees, only to learn that most teachers had left due to unpaid wages.

The FIITJEE center in Meerut, which was one of the last to shut, attempted to manage classes with teachers from Noida. However, this arrangement lasted only a few days before the institute was forced to close.

Speculation over FIITJEE’s financial troubles has grown, with reports of unpaid salaries, licensing violations, and fire safety issues at some branches. This crisis has emerged at a critical time, as students are preparing for the January session of the JEE Mains, a key engineering entrance exam and the first step toward IIT admissions.

Founded in 1992 by IIT Delhi graduate DK Goel, FIITJEE was once a prominent name in engineering and medical entrance coaching, with 72 centers across 41 cities and over 300 employees. However, the recent closures have raised concerns about the institute’s financial stability and its future.

Parents are demanding refunds and a solution, as many students’ preparation has been disrupted. “This has weakened the students’ morale,” one parent lamented.

The institute has yet to release an official statement addressing the closures or the allegations. Students and parents await further updates on this unfolding situation.
