Farm Laws Repealed: Is PM Modi Finally Awake

Ahead of UP elections, PM Modi decides to repeal controversial farm laws

In a televised ‘address to the nation’ on Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the three controversial agriculture laws passed in September 2020 have been repealed by the central government. Even before the passage of these laws, farmers across the country were opposing it. He believes that the laws will benefit the big corporations and the farmers will suffer. The PM said that the process of withdrawing the law will be completed in the winter session of Parliament. Modi appealed to the farmers to end the agitation.

Thousands of farmers have been agitating against these laws on the borders of Delhi since last year. Most of the opposition parties called it the right decision taken late. BJP leaders are now appealing to the agitating farmers to return home at the earliest.

Prime minister Modi spent a lot of time claiming that his government uplifted India’s farmers and did “everything possible” to help them. After spending ten minutes praising his government’s claimed achievements, he praised three controversial agricultural laws brought in by his government. He then went on to talk about the protest. “It is important for us that we are not able to explain the benefits of these laws to all the farmers.

We are trying and trying, using different mediums, and talks are on. We listened to their arguments and understood them. We were also ready to change some of the provisions and suspended these laws for two years. The matter is also in the Supreme Court.”

“I apologize to the nation, because it seems that there has been some lack in our efforts, due to which we were not available to explain the truth to some farmers. Today is Guru Nanak Jayanti, not the time to blame anyone. I want to announce to everyone that we have decided to repeal these laws. I hope the protesting farmers will now return to their homes, return to their fields and we can start afresh.”

Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait has clarified that the agitation will not be withdrawn immediately, we will wait for the day when agricultural laws will be repealed in Parliament. Along with the MSP, the government should also discuss other issues of the farmers.

‘Decision taken after seeing the fear of defeat’

Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal called it a ‘big victory for the farmers’. Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh thanked PM Modi. He said in a tweet that he is thankful to Modi for fulfilling the demand of every Punjabi. Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik said that ‘a message has been sent that any decision can be changed if the country is united’.

Referring to the results of the recent elections, he said that ‘PM Modi has taken this decision because of the defeat’. AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also said that the laws were withdrawn fearing defeat in the elections. RJD leader Manoj Jha said that there is a message hidden in this for the government that you will get anything passed by the Parliament and the country will accept it, it does not happen.

CM Arvind Kejriwal: More than 700 farmers have given martyrdom

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, ‘What a great news today, on the day of Prakash Diwas. All three laws were repealed. More than 700 farmers were martyred. Their martyrdom will be immortal. The coming generations will remember how the farmers of this country put their lives on the line to save agriculture and farmers.

My salute to the farmers of my country!’ Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted, ‘The Annadata of the country bowed the head of arrogance with Satyagraha. Congratulations on this victory against injustice! Jai Hind, Jai Hind’s farmer!’ Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “The autocratic government was defeated today in the face of non-violent farmers’ agitation. The government should have accepted the demands earlier, he said.

The government decided to put farm laws on hold for 18 months, Here are the possible reasons

Governments should always bow down to public pressure. Congratulations to the farmers and the farmers movement. The central government finally had to bow down in front of the martyrdom of hundreds of farmers. The government should also apologize to the families of those farmers, whose lives have been lost in the agitation against these laws. RJD leader Manoj Jha said, ‘The verdict is welcome.

The government was living in pride. The movement for democratic values and life won. One should bow humbly before the movements. No one can understand the betterment of farmers better than farmers.

However, experts have said that seeing upcoming UP and Punjab elections, the Modi government has decided to repeal the farm laws. “Around 750 farmers were killed in the agricultural movement. There was no mourning from the Indian government. Farmers of the country think that maybe PM Modi is not a ‘farmer’ PM and separate them (farmers) from the country.” Who will be accountable for the deaths of farmers?

PM Modi suddenly wakes up from a deep slumber and suddenly realizes farmers are part of one family. We need to ask our dearest Prime minister about the Lakhimpuri incident. Four farmers were crushed by an SUV in Lakhimpur Kheri when a group agitating against three agriculture laws of the Center demonstrated against the visit of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on October 3. Angry protesters allegedly thrashed two BJP workers and a driver, while a local journalist was also killed in the violence. What about that incident Dearest Prime Minister?
