Fake news: While PM Modi was on a visit to Varanasi, Twitterati says that several media houses conveniently overlook all the protests against PM Modi and CM Yogi in Uttar Pradesh at the same time. A video circulated on social media shows a mob raising anti-Modi slogans as he walks down the street with Yogi.
Fact-checked: This video is doctored. The crowd had gathered to have a glimpse of the Prime Minister and were raising pro-Modi slogans. The ‘Hai-Hai’ Modi audio was imposed on the video later. A journalist Rohan Dua posted the same video but with the original audio.

Fake news: A photo showing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi took blessings of IAS Officer ‘Aarati Dongra’ who is the chief architect of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham project by touching the feet.
Fact-checked: the picture of PM Modi touching the differently-abled woman being shared, misidentifying her as IAS officer Arti Dogra. She is not an IAS officer but a person identified as Shikha Rastogi from Varanasi. Moreover, Dr. Bimal Patel is the Chief Architect of the project.

Fake news: Social media chaos over the most-awaited and secretive Shaadi of 2021 of Katrina and Vicky Kaushal had left everyone crazy. The Theme wedding and unique bride-groom entry had become a new flex, one such bizarre wedding ceremony had gone viral this week. Several lesser-known media houses claimed that a bride got married to a different groom as she landed in a different venue during her paragliding entry. Concluding that a wedding cannot go this wrong.
Fact-checked: This was a fictitious story published by a satirical website ‘The Fauxy. Some fake mongers had published the original story from the website which says that The Fauxy is India’s finest, fastest and fictitious news source. It mentions in the disclaimer section that whatever is published is just for entertainment. Moreover, the picture used in the viral article is of Pakistani actor couple Danish Taimoor and Ayeza Khan.
Muslims halted at the National highway while offering Friday prayers!
Fake news: A controversy sparked in Haryana’s Gurugram recently after some Hindu groups objected to Muslims offering namaz on open ground near a residential area. Amid this ongoing dispute, an image went viral showing a large gathering of men offering namaz on roads and top of vehicles leading to a highway jam. This news was also posted by a Pakistani Canadian columnist Tarekh Fateh.
Fact-checked: This image is not even from India. The scene is captured during a religious congregation in Bangladesh. A better and clearer version of the image was posted by Fine Art America. Its description reads that thousands of Muslims kneel in the middle of the road junction to pray, causing a town’s traffic to come to a standstill. The image is from Biswa Iijtema near river Turag in Tongi, Bangladesh. Moreover, in the images, the buses halted are of BRTC (Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation).
