Delhi Capitals reaches IPL finals for the first time, Delhites are emotional
Virendra Sehwag lauds his former franchise in a unique way
It was an emotional moment for the fans of Delhi Capitals on Sunday night when Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad and reached the IPL final for the first time. Despite being a good side in some odd years with some greatest players of the game – Virendra Sehwag, David Warner, AB de Villiers, Kevin Pieterson, Gautam Gambhir, Morne Morkel and many others, the team had never reached the final in the Indian Premier League.
Delhi capitals are only 1 step away from fulfilling the dream, which they have been seeing for more than 12 years. In the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and Ricki Ponting, DC has been doing well for 3 years. However, they have not been able to win the knockout matches to have their name inked on the beautiful IPL trophy.
Many Delhi Capitals fans, cricket experts, players took to Twitter to announce the amazing feat of the Delhi Capitals. While some shared their happiness by making memes, others lauded the efforts of Delhi boys. Here are some of those reactions.
We’ve waited so long for this, words can’t describe what we are feeling right now! 💪
Grateful for all your support. Let’s do this 👊🏻🕴🏻

What a day for @DelhiCapitals. All these years of heartbreak and now, finally, a place in the final. And a deserving spot for a team that, after a gruelling tournament, finished second at the league stage.

However, it won’t be easy for Delhi Capitals to win the trophy as Mumbai Indians is waiting for them at Dubai. DC have to overpower a strong Mumbai Indians team which has never lost IPL final in the leadership of Rohit Sharma. This year too, they have been the best side in both the batting and the bowling department. In the league matches, Mumbai Indians have defeated Delhi capitals on all the three occasions.
In the first encounter, Mumbai Indians chased down the target of 163 with 5 wickets and 2 balls remaining. The second encounter was more a one-sided affair in which Mumbai crushed Delhi by 9 wickets while chasing 111. The third battle (the first qualifier) was also a cakewalk for Mumbai as they defended their massive total of 200 by 57 runs.
If Delhi Capitals have to win the match, they have to make sure that the batting prowess of Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock, Keiron Pollard, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav is contained. Kagiso Rabada and Ravichandran Ashwin are going to play a very crucial role in the match. The DC also has to make sure their batting is not solely dependent on Shikhar Dhawan and Marcus Stoinis. Captain Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Ajinkya Rahane, Prithwi Shaw need to up the ante in the final battle.
