COVID-19 Update: The cases in India are rising and the situation is alarming, especially in National Capital Delhi. India recorded 2, 73, 000 cases today and the second wave of Corona has completely battered India. The total tally has crossed the mark of 1.5 crores. Here are some important COVID updates that you should know about. What all happened the entire week and how the government is preparing to handle this situation.
1.Mini- Lockdown in Delhi
The Delhi government has announced a mini lockdown in Delhi. The national capital will be under complete curfew from April 19, 2021, to April 26, 2021, till 5 am in the morning. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal addressed Delhites and explained the current situation in Delhi. He said the healthcare system in Delhi is under extreme pressure. Notably, 25,000 fresh COVID cases were reported in Delhi. Keeping in mind the situation, Delhi has announced mini – lockdown. Essential commodities will remain open.
2. Lockdown in Rajasthan
Apart from Delhi, Rajasthan has also announced a lockdown. Starting from April 19, 2021, the lockdown in Rajasthan will end on May 3, 2021. To contain the infection and break the chain, the Rajasthan government has imposed a lockdown in the state. The second wave of Corona has proved deadly and images coming from all across the country are heartbreaking.
3. Maharashtra mandates – Ve RT PCR people travelling from Delhi
Maharashtra government is trying its best to contain the infection in the state. Recently, the state has made – Ve RT PCR mandatory for people travelling from Delhi, Kerala, Gujarat, Delhi – NCR and Uttarakhand as these places have been marked sensitive. According to the latest COVID 19 update, the test should be done within 48 hours of train travel. Notably, passengers travelling without the –Ve RT PCR report will undergo a rapid antigen test at the station.
4. Hong Kong has banned flights from India
After N50 1 Y mutant COVID 19 strain was detected there for the first time. Hong Kong has banned flights from India, Pakistan and the Philippines from April 20, 2021, for two weeks. According to an official release, Hong Kong has also placed three countries under the category of extremely high- risk Group A.

5. Mamta Banerjee cancels campaigning in West Bengal
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has decided to cancel all the campaigns in Kolkata. The decision came amid in surge in coronavirus cases in the state. On Sunday, West Bengal recorded 8,419 new coronavirus cases, its highest-ever single-day rise in infections. According to the latest COVID 19 update, Kolkata is the worst –affected district in the state. Keeping the alarming condition in mind, Mamta Banerjee has decided not to do any other campaign in Kolkata.

6. No plan to impose nationwide lockdown
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has reached out to industry associations to reassure them that government has no plan to impose another national lockdown and will be focused on creating small containment zones. The central government has assured that they are looking into the situation regarding the availability of oxygen.
