Situations could bring out worst in us but these 5 instances are a proof that we stay united at the time of pandemic


The ongoing pandemic EdCovid-19 has reached more than 199 countries and territories across the world infecting more than 5,32,300 people and killing more than 24,000 people. These situations are bound to bring out worst in people, but it can also become inspiring examples of people choosing to be kind and helping. Some people are making sure those in quarantine don’t feel alone by turning cancelled events into opportunities to give back.

Some are helping others and some are appreciating the efforts of people are working hard to ensure that coronavirus doesn’t spread on a massive scale. Here are 5 instances that show COVID-19 has brought out best in us.

1. Amritsar Police bought all the vegetables from the vegetable seller

Amritsar rural police shared a video on Twitter where they were seen buying all the vegetables from a vegetable seller and sending him home. They also sanitized the hands of vegetable seller. Check the video of “Superheroes with a heart of gold.”

2. WestJet threw four students a mini-graduation on their flight to home after their college was closed due to the COVID-19

The lockdown has led to the closure of many schools and colleges across the world. Briercrest College and Seminary in Caronport, Saskatchewan, Canada cancelled its graduation ceremony due to the coronavirus. Four seniors on the college’s volleyball team were on their way back to their homes when flight attendants surprised them with an impromptu ‘graduation’.

3. People in Italy, Spain and Israel applauded for healthcare workers from their rooftops and balconies

Quarantined people in Israel, Italy, France, and Spain coordinated at times to applaud for the health care workers from their homes. The sounds of cheering, clapping and whistling filled the air of expressions of gratitude for doctors, nurses and others who are tirelessly treating the sick. Inspired by this model, we in India also did the same but we added a desi twist and made sounds with the steel plates and spoons.

4. A Vietnamese living in Singapore gave free masks

Jennifer Le, a Vietnamese living in Singapore distributed free masks at Sengkang with her daughter and friends. Watch a great deal of kindness and thoughtfulness by a young lady.

5. Neighbours in Spain sang “Happy Birthday” to an 80-year-old woman

A group of neighbours in Spain sang “Happy Birthday” to an 80-year-old woman from their balconies during the lockdown. Neighbour’s placed a cake outside the lady’s house and phoned her to open the door. After seeing the cake, she began to cry.
