August 2022: India’s 5-wicket win over in Asia Cup 2022, Hardik Pandya’s powerful comeback

India’s thrilling 5-wicket win in Asia Cup 2022. Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya took to social media to express his joy. It was at his resurgence in international cricket this year. He led the Men in Blue to a fighting win over their Asian arch-rivals.

The post features a picture showing two different eras of his career. The first shows him laying on a stretcher during his outing against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2018. The other is Pandya in 2022. He raised his bat finishing the match against Pakistan with a six.

His win is now being celebrated across the nation and even in Afghanistan.

August 2022: Bihar got New-old CM and a toxic relationship between BJP & Nitish Kumar

Bihar has a new CM, none other than Nitish Kumar. Nitish quit NDA and his CM post. But a day later, he hopped back into the chair for the 8th time. He allied with FJD instead of the BJP-led NDA. Along with other parties as a new “Grand Alliance.”

Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tejaswi Yadav is the new deputy CM. If you’ve missed it, Nitish and BJP haven’t been BFFs for a while. They loved each other in 2010 and hated each other in 2014. Loved each other again in time for the 2017 elections and hate each other now.

So yeah, it’s a bit of a toxic relationship.

August 2022: Supertech Twin Towers demolition became National Headline, invites meme fest

The Supertech Twin Towers in Noida, also deemed India’s tallest building, were demolished following a directive from the Supreme Court of India. About 7000 residents of the area were moved out. Power supply and gas in the adjoining buildings were also suspended. Some of the adjoining buildings were covered with unique clothes to minimize dust penetration.

An insurance policy covering 100 crores covered the demolition exercise. In case of damage to nearby buildings, this should be covered. SuperTech is responsible for the premium and other costs. While the demolition project may cost upwards of ₹20 crores, the loss of the towers is estimated at more than ₹50 crores. The demolition spectacle ended the decade-long battle between SuperTech and the residents around the twin towers.

August 2022: CBI raided Manish Sisodia house

The CBI raided 21 locations in Delhi-NCR, including Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia’s residence and the premises of the then Delhi excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna, regarding anomalies and irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi’s liquor policy. Sisodia holds the excise department. The CBI registered an FIR in connection with alleged irregularities in formulating and executing the Delhi Excise Policy.

There were also “deliberate and gross procedural lapses” to provide post-tender “undue benefits to liquor licenses.” The CBI inquiry was recommended in Delhi Chief Secretary’s report.

As per the report, Sisodia allegedly made changes to the excise policy.

August 2022: New 74 days CJI, Justice UU Lalit

At Rashtrapati Bhavan, Justice Uday Umesh Lalit was sworn in as the 49th Chief Justice of India by President Droupadi Murmu. Justice Lalit has a brief tenure of 74 days as the head of India’s judiciary and would demit office on 8 November. He is the second CJI who was directly elevated to the SC bench from the Bar. Earlier, Justice SM Sikri, the 13th CJI, was the 1st lawyer to be elevated directly to the top court bench in March 1964.
