Pandit Banaras Tiwari, the father of acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi, has passed away at the age of 98. The actor, who was away filming in Uttarakhand, has swiftly departed for his hometown, Belsand in Bihar, where his father resided with Pankaj’s mother. Meanwhile, Pankaj and his family live in Mumbai.
The family issued an official statement confirming the demise of Pandit Banaras Tiwari, who had led a rich and fulfilling life spanning nearly a century. Pankaj Tripathi’s father will be laid to rest in the company of close family members. As of now, Pankaj is en route to his village in Gopalganj to pay his last respects.

Pankaj’s co-star from the movie “OMG 2,” Akshay Kumar, expressed his grief and condolences on Twitter, acknowledging the irreplaceable void left by the absence of parents and wishing peace for the departed soul.

In a previous interview, Pankaj shared his father’s aspiration for him to become a doctor, as was common in their village in North Bihar. Despite the conventional expectations, Pankaj’s family endorsed his passion for acting, understanding the challenges of a middle-class life. His father remained largely unfamiliar with his achievements in the film industry, occasionally glimpsing them on others’ computers or the newly acquired television at Pankaj’s home.
