AAP’s manifesto for Delhi polls promises 15 guarantees, including jobs, healthcare, clean water, and scholarships

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its manifesto for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, scheduled for next month, featuring 15 key guarantees aimed at transforming the capital. Party leader Arvind Kejriwal unveiled the document, emphasizing robust job creation as the first promise.

The manifesto’s central theme is public welfare. Under the Mahila Samman Yojana, women will receive monthly financial aid of ₹2,100. Senior citizens will benefit from the Sanjeevani Yojana, which ensures free healthcare. The manifesto also includes waiving outstanding hiked water bills and a commitment to providing clean drinking water 24/7 to every household.

AAP has pledged to clean the Yamuna River and improve Delhi’s road infrastructure. Scholarships for SC and ST students under the Babasaheb Ambedkar Scholarship Yojana will enable them to pursue studies abroad. Male students will benefit from free bus rides and a 50% concession on metro fares.

The manifesto further outlines financial support of ₹18,000 per month for priests and Gurudwara Granthis. Tenants will be eligible for free electricity and water benefits. Additionally, AAP promises improved sewage systems, ration cards for the underserved, and financial aid of ₹1 lakh for the weddings of auto and cab drivers’ daughters, alongside ₹10 lakh insurance coverage.

Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) will receive funds to enhance local security, including hiring guards. AAP has also committed to offering financial support to auto and cab drivers.

Kejriwal took a jab at the BJP during the manifesto launch, saying, “We coined the term guarantee. The BJP copied it, but we fulfill our promises, unlike them.”

Meanwhile, the BJP released its manifesto, promising ownership rights for residents of 1,700 unauthorised colonies and a clean Yamuna River within three years if voted to power. The party also pledged free medical treatment worth ₹5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, adding an additional ₹5 lakh from the Delhi government.

The Delhi elections on February 5 will pit AAP’s welfare-driven promises against the BJP’s developmental pledges in a closely watched contest.
