Must Have Vitamin C Pre-Workout Sessions – It May Offer Recovery Benefits (Study Suggests )
After engaging in moderate-intensity cycling for 30 minutes, women who consumed 1000 mg of Vitamin C showed improved antioxidant capacity.
Taking vitamin C prior to workout may have recovery benefits, study suggests
Taking Vitamin C (also known as ascorbic acid) before exercises helps to increase the force of the blood against acid forces and lowers down the oxidative stress in our body after doing exercises.

The researchers, from Chiang Mai University (Thailand), investigated a body stress marker called superoxide dismutase (SOD), and they noted that its activity was above the conventional level when they associated it with a placebo pill after exercising. On the other hands, ascorbic acid and exercise presents a dramatically different picture, as levels of the stress marker are suppressed.
It is the important fact that vitamin C has been proved as an effective antioxidant, but the role of vitamin C supplementation on exercise-induced oxidative stress is still disputable.

The purposes of the research were twofold: first, it was to answer two questions: whether ascorbic acid supplement would provide extra antioxidant defense and regulate glucose metabolism and also whether it could prevent muscle damage due to a single exercise session performed by an untrained involuntary person.
“Predosed administration to exercise mutes muscle damage by does not reduce oxidative stress (i.e., ascorbic acid supplementation fails to inhibit oxidative stress before or after exercise).
Through the study, which was published in The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, about 19 women of the age range between 22 and 25 and in general health were looked at. According to their confession, they had led a sedentary life with no physical activity in spot for at least a year before that. The subjects were tested in pre-exercise and post-30 minutes of exercise using blood tests that revealed oxidative stress and muscle injury markers.
The subjects fasted prior to performing the exercise, hence there was a possibility of give the participants different inputs to see the results which was also a weakness of the study.
