US Military soldier arrested In North Korea, later found in South Korean Jail
US Military soldier Travis King crossed into North Korea without authorization during a tour. After spending two months in a South Korean prison for assault charges, he was released and is now being escorted back to the US for disciplinary action.
A soldier from the US named Travis King is in jail for around two months in South Korea. He was believed to be in North Korean custody after crossing the most secure border of the country without any authorization.
Travis King was a Private Second Class officer and has been in the US army since 2021. He crossed the border without any permission or authorisation from the government.

The King was released on 10 July 2023 after spending almost two months in a South Korean prison for the charges of assault.

He had been on a “Joint Security Area” (JSA) orientation tour, and he was believed to be in North Korean custody, and that he was working with Pyongyang’s military to “resolve this incident,” as said by The United Nations Command.
Washington was closely seeing and investigating the situation, as said by the Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin.
The low-ranking soldier was being escorted home to the United States on Wednesday for disciplinary reasons but it is believed that somehow some soldiers managed to leave the airport and again joined the tour group.
