Prime Minister Narendra Modi held high-level interlocs with world leaders, including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the Rio de Janeiro G20 Summit in Brazil. The bilateral will discuss some of the most practical aspects of their cooperation in defense, security, trade, and technology.

Prime Minister Modi expressed hope that the India-Italy partnership will go a long way in building a better world,” said the PMO statement. PM Modi shared insights on social media platform X that “Glad to have met Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the Rio de Janeiro G20 Summit. Our talks centered around deepening ties in defense, security, trade, and technology. We also discussed ways to boost cooperation in culture, education, and other such areas.”

Apart from interacting with PM Meloni, Modi also had talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store. This was another step in consolidating India’s international relationships, demonstrating India’s approach towards mutual development and cooperation.

PM Modi met with the leaders of Indonesia and Portugal. During the latter, PM Modi underlined the strengthening of partnerships in commerce and defence. While holding talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, PM Modi reaffirmed 75 years of bilateral ties and urged that India wanted to expand the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X that the PM assured President Subianto that India would extend support in existing and emerging areas of collaboration.

The G20 Summit also gave PM Modi an opportunity to meet with Spanish President Pedro Sanchez, thus further solidifying India’s position as a world leader in promoting international relationships.

These bilateral engagements show how India is proactive in tackling global problems by working together and mutual respect. The increased ties with nations across the continents by PM Modi underscore India’s vision of a united global community toward shared goals on security, trade, education, and cultural exchange.
