She talked about the principles of their late Indian-origin mother when she opened began speech. She remarked that Kamala’s nomination as the Democratic Party nominee would make their late mother pleased.

She said, “Mommy saw the potential and strength that come from being really yourself. She was aware that we could write our own story, just as she had been the one to provide Kamala and me with the chance. It’s a uniquely American story.

Kamala Harris, like many Americans, is familiar with what it’s like to be the underdog in the country. She remarked, making a jab at Republican front-runner Donald Trump, “while others want to bring us back to the past. Hold up, my sister says, we’re not going back.” She added.

That Sibling bond between Maya and Kamla

Maya continues to play a big role in Kamala’s life and work. Following their parents Donald Harris and Shyamala Gopalan’s divorce, Kamala and Maya made the decision to live with their mother. In the presidential campaign, Maya took an active part. Maya served as Kamala Harris’s campaign chairperson in 2020, her first presidential campaign. She supported Hillary Clinton as a senior policy advisor throughout her 2016 presidential campaign. She used to be in charge of the group of policy specialists and was responsible for creating Clinton’s domestic policy.

Maya’s Work Journey

Maya began her legal career as a civil litigator before enrolling at Stanford. She rose to the position of dean of Lincoln Law School in San Jose and adjunct law professor.
Aside from racial and gender justice, Maya has primarily concentrated on policy and civil rights. She was also a visiting scholar at Harvard Law School and a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. In addition, he served as vice president. In addition, she held the positions of executive director of the ACLU of Northern California and vice president of democracy, rights, and justice at the Ford Foundation.
