Israeli troops allege Hamas ties, UN and nations condemn hospital entry
In recent events, there has been a concerning situation at Gaza’s al Shifa hospital. Israeli troops entered the hospital, claiming to have found weapons and equipment belonging to Hamas. This has led to condemnation from the United Nations and several Middle Eastern countries.
Israel Alleges Hamas HQ at Hospital
The head of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, Major General Yaron Finkelman, mentioned a targeted operation at Shifa Hospital, citing the recovery of weapons in a video shared on the army’s Telegram channel. Israel has accused Hamas of using the hospital as a command centre, a claim denied by Hamas.

The Palestinian health ministry reported the deployment of bulldozers around the hospital. With an estimated 2,300 people inside, including newborns and patients, the situation is dire. Tragically, three premature babies died due to a lack of fuel for incubators.
Hospital Crisis Spurs Global Concern
As Israeli troops entered the hospital, the director reported the cutoff of water, electricity, and oxygen to all departments. The international community, including UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths, has expressed deep concern over the attack on civilians and stressed the importance of protecting hospitals as neutral spaces.
Qatar has called for an urgent international investigation through the United Nations into the Israeli actions. The conflict between Israel and Hamas, initiated by an offensive launched by Benjamin Netanyahu, has resulted in a significant number of casualties and a siege on Gaza’s population. The toll on civilians, especially children, is a matter of increasing global concern.
