According to a report by TOLO News, over the past six months, in Kandahar 1000+ Cases of Tuberculosis. The affected individuals include children, women, and the elderly. Jamaluddin Azimi, the Head of the tuberculosis section in Kandahar’s Public Health Department, stated that there were approximately 1,160 tuberculosis patients during this period, reflecting a decrease of 6.5% compared to the previous year, with a higher prevalence among women.

Officials attribute the spread of tuberculosis to a lack of treatment. Residents from different provinces, such as Zabul and Helmand, have shared their experiences, highlighting the importance of receiving proper medical care.

The Doctors Without Borders Hospital in Kandahar is currently treating 75 tuberculosis patients, primarily women and children. Mujeeb Rahman, Deputy of the Doctors Without Borders Centre in Kandahar, mentioned that in the last six months, they diagnosed and registered 415 new tuberculosis cases in Mirwais Hospital and Sarpouzeh Prison.

Tuberculosis symptoms include cough, fever, and weight loss. The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that many people in Afghanistan succumb to tuberculosis each year, indicating the severity of the issue in the country.
