Abu Dhabi reports new MERS-coronavirus case, says WHO Details

A new case of MERS-coronavirus identified in Abu Dhabi.

The World Health Organisation has reported a new MERS- coronavirus case at Abu Dhabi.


What is MERS-CoV?

The Middle East respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) was first diagnosed in Saudi Arabia in 2012.

Following its detection, 27 nations reported MERS cases, such as Algeria, Austria, Bahrain, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Oman, the Philippines, Qatar, Republic of Korea, state of Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, UK, USA and Yemen.

In line with the WHO, a total of 2,605 cases of the virus have been reported up to now, with 936 associated deaths.

MERS is a zoonotic virus that could transmit among animals and men. In accordance with the WHO facts, human beings in Saudi Arabia in general were infected through unprotected contact with inflamed dromedary camels.

The symptoms of the virus encompass fever, coughing, and shortness of breath, and in some cases can lead to pneumonia.

According to the WHO, a total of 2,605 cases of the MERS-CoV virus have been reported to this point, with 936 related deaths.

The fitness officers have checked 108 people with whom the person was in contact with. However no secondary infections have turned up this far, stated information company Reuters mentioning WHO.
