About a week ago, Zareen Khan also opened up about the harassment she faced in Bollywood while chatting with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyad on their podcast. A newcomer, who starred in the Bollywood’s 2010 film Veer opposite Salman Khan, Zareen was quite open about the consequences . She said that the comparisons with Katrina Kaif are regarding her career.
Looking back at her inception into the glamorous world, Zareen said, “Life after ‘Veer’ was very bad for me, I got a lot of criticism for it but the film was so big, it still is a life-changing moment for me.” I was so thrilled that I was being compared to Katrina Kaif; besides she is so beautiful !
But I believe that within the industry it quickly became quite the opposite The comparison to Katrina was big for me, who used to be overweight, but it backfired very badly. ”
This, however, the actor said led to her being associated with ‘arrogance’ by many of her counterpart in the acting world. More, she has narrated, ‘I was an uncultured peasant in the industry and did not know the majority of the people here I only knew the names of producers and directors but they started feeling that I was overbearing because Salman Khan had discovered me’.
Zareen also mentioned the abuse she used to get and how this kept her indoors most of the times. She arrived at the fact that ‘there was a time I was even scared to step out of my house because people would comment on my clothes…That comparison went in a very negative way…I was called overweight. What should I do? I was given so many names that at one point I actually wanted to sit at home.”
Nevertheless, Zareen was able to break the barriers and establish herself as a Bollywood actress. She came into the limelight after performing the dance number Character Dheela with Salman Khan in the 2011 comedy-drama Ready. Till date, her highest grossing release is Housefull 2. In addition, she has acted in Hate Story 3, Aksar 2 ,1921 and many more movies up to date.
