Vivek Oberoi Reflects on Career Setbacks Post-Feud with Salman Khan: Personal Growth Amidst Industry Challenges and Family Support
During the India Global Forum, London, actor Vivek Oberoi spoke at length about a certain dark period in his life that led to his career slump. The actor who is a star and well-known face, had one day lost his chance at films and fame over what he refers to as political influence in Bollywood.
However, hinting at an obvious sabbatical from the industry due to a fallout with Salman Khan, Vivek needed not say more about how and where he got hit. Speaking to Times of India, Vivek shared that he was at the pinnacle of his career receiving many awards only to lose it all within a blink of an eye as some key players in Bollywood stepped ahead to ensure he does not work again in the film industry.
The effect of this situation was that he was left feeling frustrated, hurting, and most importantly like a victim. He said, “I got very frustrated and hurt and angry and I was just so very angry and I did not know what to do”.

When struggling for comfort and ideas from his mother, Vivek said, “I want to tell everyone that my mom is somebody I really look up to, she is my hero and she once told me, ‘If you want to feel like a hero, if you really want to feel like a winner, then put your attention into being a hero to someone else’.”
Discussing it, it is relevant to mention that during his career, Vivek alluded to the press conference in 2003 when he accused Salman Khan of threatening him over his relation with Aishwarya Rai, which decreased his reputation in the industry. However, life favours the brave and despite all the odds, Vivek has found meaning in his family life, which he shares with Priyanka Alva and their children.

In a recent interview, Vivek also opened up about the issue of lobbying and bullying in Bollywood movies that he faced, which he said delayed his hardship. Nonetheless, he continues to have the resolve to rise above such obstacles, setting his sights on projects that hold potential to be emancipatory and socially engaging.
