This year, young actor Vikrant Massey is expected to be awarded this honour for his outstanding portrayal in the Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s biopic ‘12th Fail.’ The movie was critically acclaimed and the character portrayed brilliantly by Vikrant was that of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma.

After the release of the film in December the previous year, Massey’s performance was appreciated by some well-known personalities such as Urmila Matondkar who is herself an actress in Bollywood and businessman Anand Mahindra who mentioned that the work of Massey is worthy of National Award. The annual National Film Awards are set to be announced soon, which The Massey states the following. “Let’s see you know Abhi main kya hi bol sakta hoon I don’t wish to talk too much about it then something can go wrong,” he said so vividly smiled.

Humbled by the recognition, Massey feels proud to be considered for such a prestigious award. “To be considered [for the award] in a year where many performances stood out and were respected… I think I’m already in a good club so I’m happy about that,” he shares. Massey’s modesty shines through as he praises his co-stars and peers, acknowledging the remarkable performances in the running for the award.

“As much as people are talking about me winning the National Award, there were some incredible performances last year. What Vicky (Kaushal) did in Sam Bahadur was phenomenal. The time and amount of hard work he put in for that film was phenomenal, and I know because (director) Meghna Gulzar is also a very dear friend of mine,” he continues. “It was actually a great year for so many artistes. What Fahaad (Faasil) did in Aavesham was as good as what Prithviraj did in Goat Life. I am glad to be considered with such fine actors,” Massey concludes. Up next, fans can look forward to seeing him in “The Sabarmati Report.”
