Udit Narayan Responds to Paparazzi’s Joke Amid Kissing Controversy as Past Clips Resurface and Social Media Reacts

Veteran singer Udit Narayan was recently embroiled in controversy after a video of him kissing female fans while attending a live concert went viral. The video, which captured the singer singing Tip Tip Barsa Paani as a group of female fans waited for selfies, soon elicited outrage. In the videos, Udit was caught kissing his fans on the lips, attracting scathing criticism on all social media platforms.

Following this scandal, the paparazzi jumped at the chance to mock the singer in a public event. Udit Narayan had gone to the success party of The Roshans documentary series when the photographers jokingly asked him, “Sir, ek kiss ho jaye?” The singer just laughed and went away and did not court further controversy. The incident was not forgotten, though. A clip of the exchange went viral on Reddit, and a tide of reaction poured in from citizens on the web. One netizen cracked a joke, “It’s all fun and games till Udit grabs the Pap and fulfils his wish.” Another said, “That lady looked concerned that he may just suddenly pounce on her with a kiss on the way in!”

The issue of Udit Narayan being problematic has only grown with the recent re-emergence of older clips demonstrating such behavior. Video clips of his previous incidents show him kissing popular female vocalists, such as Alka Yagnik and Shreya Ghoshal. In one case, Udit kissed Alka on the cheek at an Indian Idol function, leaving her visibly shocked as she hastily retreated. Another clip shows Alka appearing uncomfortable when Udit kissed her once more at another function, fueling the current debate regarding his behavior.

In spite of the criticism, Udit Narayan has justified himself, clarifying the situation in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. He disputed the accusations, declaring, “Have I ever done something that would dishonor me, my family or my nation? Then why do something now, in the course of my life when I’ve achieved everything?”; he continued to explain his connection with fans on the grounds of profound reciprocal affection. “There is an untainted and unbreakable connection between me and my fans. What you saw in the so-called scandalous video was a show of love. They love me, and I reciprocate it even more.”
