Considering the cast as a living organism changing, the show has faces switching and making different spins on traditional roles. One such obvious change has been the one in the icon of Tapu where the role has been enacted by both Bhavya Gandhi and Raj Anadkat before the current representative Nitish Bhaluni.
Sanket Patni who replaced Bhavya Gandhi in the TMKOC prematurely got into fame and was easily among the highest paid child actors in Indian television. Tapu’s portrayal was loved by all and simultaneously, at the zenith of his career, Bhavya was said to be charging a hefty Rs 10,000 per episode, which in that was a lot of money for a kid artist.
His career continued up to 2017, when, finally, he decided to part ways with the character in order to explore other acting opportunities; the show left a need for an actor as likable and as talented as him to be cast in the show.
Nevertheless, a significant change happened in Zee TV’s show when, in 2017, Raj Anadkat replaced Narad as Tapu. It was not easy to join the show that was already well loved but Raj has introduced his flavor into the character. His pay was commensurate with the size of his role in the show and sources suggested that for each episode he was receiving Rs 20,000 which was double to what Bhavya Gandhi used to get. This big hikes further reiterated the fact that the show was on a progressive uptrend and that a character like Tapu was very critical in the storyline of the show.
Raj’s comedy shows went on till the year 2022, when he felt that it was time he tested out other categories of comedy and acting. His exit could also be attributed to speculations that he had a fall out with the station’s production team his dues were not paid as expected.
In 2023, Nitish Bhaluni assumed the mantle of continuing Tapu’s legacy. Nitish assumed the part and put his own unique take on the well-known character, stepping into big shoes. Sources claim that Nitish receives the same salary as Raj Anadkat, his predecessor, who was paid Rs 20,000 for each episode. This compensation parity highlights both the importance of the character to the plot of TMKOC and the show’s dedication to maintaining the high standards set by previous performers. The success of the show and the caliber of its cast and crew are demonstrated by their ability to hold onto their audience despite the changes.
