The Telangana government recently served a notice to Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh not to play songs that advocate alcohol, drugs and violence for his concert in Hyderabad . Such songs have been mentioned in the notice as songs that promote unhealthy habits while listing examples such songs will include __5 Taara__, __Case__, and __Patiala Peg__.

The government recently intervened after Chandigarh-based professor Panditrao Dharenavar complained about the singer’s lyrics . The same notice also banned Diljit Dosanjh from allowing children on stage during the concert which according to World Health Organisation, it is dangerous for an adult to listen to anything above 140 decibels while children should not listen to anything above 120 decibels .
The concert was to be held in Hyderabad at GMR Arena from his Dil-Luminati tour and was expected to be attended by more than 20, 000 people. However, the government intervened through an announcement that was followed by the general notice, yet the concert was conducted successfully, and the singer was said to have complied with the standards.

Such a move by the Telangana government is greatly a debate on the state of censorship or freedom in art. Although the government has good intentions when making certain foods tainted with unhealthy tendencies, some believe that such restrictions may help to quell creativity as well as depriving the artist of having full control.
