The plea deal forces Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose given name is Daniel Hernandez, to serve less time in prison. He pleaded guilty to violating the terms of his probation after a previous felony conviction: The rapper violated the conditions of his supervised release and was arrested October 29, 2024, Hernandez faces a month in prison. In addition to a jail sentence, he’ll be directed to spend three months under conditions of home incarceration, home detention, and curfew-all of which are electronically monitored.

This deal-which has won partial approval from a federal judge in Manhattan-would mark another important step toward ending his ongoing legal woes. Judge Paul A. Engelmayer will impose a formal sentence on Hernandez at a sentencing hearing on November 12, 2024, at which the rapper is set to plead to his probation violations. It is there that both sides will have to justify the agreed-upon sentence of one month in jail followed by three months of restricted freedom at home.

The Probation Violations
Hernandez was six months away from finishing his probation when he was caught violating court-ordered rules, including travel without prior permission and testing positive for drugs. Each of the two infractions constitutes a technical violation that could warrant concern by his probation officer. These two such infractions now have brought him into the courts’ radar screen at the worst possible time, since he was almost at the end of his supervision period.

In 2019, Hernandez was convicted of serious charges in connection with his association with notorious gang Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. He has been sentenced to spend two years in prison for racketeering and the direction of gang violence-one of the most unexpected cases that many of his fans and the public witnessed. However, due to the seriousness of his health condition, he was released early on April 2, 2020. During that time, in his own reasoning, Tekashi 6ix9ine felt that his already existing conditions made him more vulnerable to the viral outbreak which was sweeping across the prisons.

Continuous Probation Violations
Tekashi 6ix9ine has been fortunate enough to constantly breach the probations under which he was released early.
Judge Engelmayer, who had been lenient by allowing the rapper to be released during the pandemic, was disappointed by Hernandez’ inability to respect the courts’ orders. One gets the feeling of disappointment from him as when the rapper came before him once again in a hearing on October 2024, wherein he apologized and assured that “not a bad person” that is. After all, his history of probations violated, made the current offer not to have more jail time.

Apart from his jail term for a month, Tekashi 6ix9ine will be on court supervision by the Probation Department when he gets out of jail for another year. This is on the understanding that the court has to keep tabs on his activities such that such infractions do not continue to happen again.

The Legal Battles
Tekashi 6ix9ine’s infamous legal case serves as the latest chapter of his tumultuous past history. Since his rise to fame, the rapper has not been unfamiliar with controversy-perhaps in the personal life and in the music industry. Shed light, however, on his associations with gang violence was done only when it happened in a racketeering case in 2019 when cooperation with federal authorities reduced prison time. He has received lenient sentencing for his will to testify against former gang members, but since he testified, he has been under strict court scrutiny.

Well, this new deal looks like saving Tekashi 6ix9ine from a much lengthier time in jail, while only several months later, still on house arrest with curfew, he will not be in the position to move or do whatever he wants. The fans of the rapper will ask how this man deals with this latest turn in his bad past to finally overcome the troubles he’s had.
