Grammy Winner SZA’s Profound Spiritual Experience at Isha Foundation: Embracing Silence, Meditation, and Self-Discovery Through Samyama

SZA, a grammy award-winning American singer, recently attended Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation near Coimbatore to seek her deep inner rejuvenation. Taking part in the Samyama wellness program, she had spent more than a week immersed in deep meditation, not indulging in phones, mirrors, or even eye contact. She wrote glimpses of this experience on Instagram, saying it had greatly impacted her personal growth and mental clarity.

One of the photographs published by her featured her in a yellow saree with a red blouse, where a moment before retreat is captured. Other images showed her taking part in community activities, playing with animals, and enjoying the Indian food at hand. She took part in all spiritual rituals and did yoga asanas, praying also. She enjoyed every aspect of the holistic life encouraged at the foundation.

She has described it this way in reflecting on her experience: “Life is so profound and chaotic and beautiful. I have no words for my Samyama experience. No phone, no mirrors, no eye contact for 8+ days. For a fundamental yapper, I lost my mind, then found it. Came back to so much overwhelming information about the state of the world and my personal/professional life. But somehow, it’s all settling quietly and loudly at the same time.”

She extended gratitude toward Sadhguru and the volunteers in Isha Foundation for this facilitation process as well, which went like this, “My love for the process and this life is indescribable. Namaskaram.”

The Samyama program, led by Sadhguru, is an intensive eight-day residential retreat designed to help participants detach from their physical and mental identities. Through complete silence and focused meditation, individuals aim to transcend their karmic limitations and cleanse their inner selves. According to Sadhguru, Samyama allows one to reach a heightened state of awareness, realizing they are not bound by the body, mind, or external world.

This is a very unique opportunity for seekers to attain higher consciousness and inner peace in this retreat. SZA’s journey is an example of how deep meditation transforms lives, encouraging many people to discover spiritual well-being and self-discovery through silence and mindfulness.
