Suniel Shetty has certainly been a fitness icon for Bollywood for all time, and even at 63, he continues to amaze the fans with his health and body. Recently, the veteran actor revealed his secret to fitness, which he says entails discipline, yoga, diet consciousness, and variations in workout regimes according to different life stages. In an open conversation on Journey Unscripted with Chanda Kochhar, he spoke about his mistakes from the past, the evolution of his fitness philosophy, and how he manages to stay in incredible shape even at 60 plus.

Keeping Things in Balance

On February 24, 2025, during the episode, Suniel was asked what the secret was to his staying fit and looking so young. The actor put emphasis on saying it had everything to do with a balanced meal, mental health, and physical activity. He went on to reminisce about when he was younger, saying, “When I was 30, I wanted to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. I made sure that I ate right and trained really hard. I trained heavily for size so that people could believe that I could knock 20 people off.”

Well, with age and experience, Suniel’s idea of fitness has changed a lot. He does not concern himself much with bulking; instead, he concerns himself with maintaining agility, strength, and mobility. “Today, when I train, it’s more about my diet, it’s more about my mental space, and how I feel. Being 60 plus means you should be able to walk on your own, get up quickly, not hunch, and not drag your feet. I’ve changed my training. I watch, I listen, I learn, I ask questions, and I adapt.”

Discipline in Eating

According to Suniel Shetty, fitness is a lot more than just severe workout schedules. It also includes some food discipline. The actor claims that he follows a very strict and quantified diet for the best health returns. He insists there is a lot of confusion that one must hit the gym to maintain mental and physical strength, whereas being active is the key. “Nobody says you have to go to the gym to build your body; you have to be active to build your mental strength and physical strength,” he explained.

Suniel Shetty eats in a highly disciplined manner and avoids a lot of foods, conscious of the fact that these would not do his body any good. He revealed, saying, “There are things I don’t eat—milk because I’m lactose intolerant, white rice, and ice cream. I follow consistency and discipline that very few would.”
