Shershaah Movie Review: Sidharth Malhotra Steals all Hearts
Shershaah, a war film with Sidharth Malhotra as Captain Vikram Batra
“Ye dil Maange More” – Captain Vikram Batra as his victory symbol. As a symbol that he wants more. More opportunities to conquer. More battles to win. This was the spirit of the Param Vir Chakra awardee and army captain, Vikram Batra. The film is based on the life journey of Captain Vikram Batra played by Sidharth Malhotra. And while it’s an absolute war film, the small elements of romance and drama is making the film a worthy watch.

Well, if you compare the film with other films in the war film category, the film might fail to stand out but if we see it as a biographical drama, the film is quite well put. As it’s a biographical drama of just 25-year-old Captain Vikram Batra, it was sufficiently difficult for the film to show more of the war scenes.
The film traces the journey of Captain Batra right from childhood. It shows how Vikram was fond of becoming an army officer, and how he pursues his dream. And unlike other officers of the team, Vikram is shown as chirpy, enthusiastic, and heroic. He is caring and interacts with the locals. His teammates have found a different charisma in him. And yet when it comes to working, Captain Vikram Batra is the best of all.
His Chemistry with Kiara Advani
There are traces of Romance too, that travel with the journey of the army man, Batra. Dimple, played by Kiara Advani is the love interest of Captain Vikram Batra. And while Dimple finds the void of not living with Batra, there are small and sweet moments that they both share.
When Batra starts to develop feelings for Dimple, their common friend says “tum dono k beech mai jo chal rha hai voh chemistry nhi hai, voh pure biology hai. Chemistry banane k liye baat cheet karni padti hai, milna padta hai” and that’s from where the relationship of Vikram and Dimple started.
While the film is not meeting several important stances of a war film, the music of the film is just bliss for the Ears. The music score of the film is by John Stewart Eduri and the songs by Tanishk Bagchi, B Praak, Jaani, Jasleen Royal, Javed-Mohsin, Vikram Montrose.
As the film ends, with the death of Captain Vikram Batra, we see Batra’s twin brother speaking of Batra in a talk. In a goosebumps speech, he lauds how the captain was like and what it means to be a member of the army.
The film is not one of the films that have layered characterization or exceptional writing, but if you are looking for something light and meaningful to watch, Shershaan should be your pick.
You can watch the film on Amazon Prime.
