Sharmin Segal Acknowledges Audience Criticism Amid Heeramandi Backlash; Embraces Feedback as Growth Opportunity

Sharmin Segal Mehta has responded to the severe backlash regarding her performance in “Heeramandi: Photo: The Diamond Bazaar ‘ The actress who portrayed the character of Alamzeb in the series came under partial social media backlash concerning rude behavior towards co-stars, during promotion of the series, to expressionless acting. However, despite the persisting negativity, Sharmin remains polite and hopeful; she argues that it is also the right of the viewers to express what they feel.

When asked to share some thoughts on it in an interview with News18, she opined that the audience is the best critic anyone can get for their creation. She said, “The audience is the king at the end of the day. And as progressive creative person, it is important to recognize that too. All of them have the same right to speak or not speak, express a positive or a negative feedback. That’s one thing that makes me to feel alright and be able to cope with things that I am facing in life. ”

Sharmin pointed that at first she stopped going through the reviews so as to avoid being depressed. But she was also deprived of the encouraging comments and appreciation from the viewers as well soon she realized this. “I was not checking many things [reviews] but then I felt that I was also missing a lot of positive feedback that I was receiving as well I have had to start paying attention to that now,” she said. Audience is very important for the artists, according to Sharmin so that they can grow and progress, and the opinions of the audience are the key to it.

Criticizing the varieties of feedback, Sharmin states, “I saw positivism, a critical feedback, and all the other hues of feedback and that something that happens when you make yourself available as an artist or an actor. It was quite good to have all the different perspectives or things. It’s an inevitability. That is the reason why opinions dictate who you are as actor, as any human being. These are actual live individuals that are getting back to you and it helps to bring home just how many possibilities there are. These are very important opinions .. ”

Sharmin made her debut as an actress in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Malaal’ which was released in the year 2019 along with Meezaan Jafri. Despite the poor showing of the film Sharmin still continues working as an actress reporting and being ready to learn new things while getting some critique on her performance..
