Shabana Azmi supports Halo for colour-blind casting
Shabana while giving an interview to Variety, had commended the show stating that, “Asian actors have been saying that they really were struggling for color blind casting, because they were saying that why should the Caucasian be recognized as the mainstream ?” asked Azmi. “And why if Laurence Olivier can play Othello then why can an Asian actor not do it? and now when I do ‘Halo’ I realize they really do have color blind casting because in spite of the fact that I portray Margaret Parangosky the character I have not been asked to change my accent the color of my eyes is still the same I was not asked to dye my hair.”
Regarding Halo:
In the video game, Pablo Schreiber played the renowned role of Master Chief John-117, a genetically enhanced super soldier who belonged to the elite Spartan Corps. Shabana Azmi played Admiral Margaret Parangosky in the series as well. Names like Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Charlie Murphy, Kate Kennedy, Natasha Culzac, Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, and Danny Sapani were among the cast members. The idea for Halo began life as a 2005 movie starring Neill Blomkamp. But in 2022, after a number of years of production, it debuted as a television program onParamount+. The main war in Halo, which is set in the 26th century, is between humans and an extraterrestrial race known as the Covenant.
