Sachin Pilgaonkar Reveals His Surprising Role as Co-Director in the Iconic Bollywood Film Sholay Alongside Amjad Khan
In a shocking confession, Sachin Pilgaonkar revealed his involvement with one of India’s most iconic Bollywood films, Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay. Speaking with the Kunal Vijaykar show on YouTube channel Khane Mein Kya Hai, the actor revealed he had directed large parts of the film along with co-star Amjad Khan. He said, Ramesh Sippy had a second unit to handle the myriad action scenes that did not involve the top stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.”.

He recalls that Sippy hired the famous stunt director Mohammed Ali and his crew, including two Hollywood professionals, Jim and Jerry, to help him with these scenes.

, Pilgaonkar quipped, “At that time, there were only two bekaar (useless) people in the unit: one was Amjad Khan and the other one was me.” He noted how, while Ramesh was busy with shots with the heroes, he and Khan saw to the rest of the footage, in short, co-directing segments of this god and goddess series. In Sholay, one of the actors cast was Ahmed, played by Pilgaonkar, who became a part of a landmark film in Hindi cinema. With unforgettable characters and a thrilling storyline, Sholay remains an iconic film that flies the flag for being one of India’s greatest productions, making it an achievement of stature for its stars and crew.
